Join the Aboriginal Languages Trust in collaboration with Museums of History for the Languages Alive, Culture Thrives speaker event, an engaging panel discussion highlighting the importance of access to archives for First Nations people in revitalisation of Aboriginal Languages across NSW.

This event is part of the lead-up to NSW Aboriginal Languages Week and will be an opportunity to hear from Community Language practitioners and leaders.

Panel Discussion Focus

The panel will explore how Communities are using historical and archival materials to revitalise their Languages. The discussion will provide valuable insights into ongoing Language revitalisation efforts and the importance of protecting and accessing archival resources.

Speakers

Our panel of Aboriginal Language practitioners and leaders will share their perspectives, facilitated by Sarah Kelly from the Aboriginal Languages Trust.

Gulwanyang Moran

Gulwanyang Moran is a proud Birrbay and Dhanggati woman of the Gathang Language group and Manager of the First Nations Community Access to Archives team at MHNSW. Truth-telling, rematriation, data sovereignty, anti-colonialism and supporting First Nations archivists centres the work she does within the galleries, libraries, archives and museums (GLAM) sector.

Nathan Sentance

Nathan Sentance, an Archival Decolonist, is committed to ensuring that First Nations stories are both told and governed by First Nations people within cultural and memory institutions such as galleries, libraries, archives, and museums.

Kirsty Beller

Kirsty Beller, a Project Lead at the Gujaga Foundation. Kirsty’s work in community involves projects, research and Dharawal language and ensures her community’s stories and knowledge holders are at the front of decision making in the La Perouse Aboriginal Community.
